How long will it take for you to call me following my job application?
We aim to call back all our applicants within 2 working days of us receiving their application. If we are unable to get hold of you the first phone call, we will call and email a few more times to try and make contact with you to discuss your application. If for any reason you do not hear from one of our recruitment officers, we would ask you to reach out to us again by email – onboarding@silvacare.org.uk or calling our head office 01179 562 411 and we can check that we have successfully received your application.
What are the pay rates?
Our payrates will differ on what time or day you are working. We offer evening and weekend enhancements to our team members. Please ask us for our most up to date pay rate break down throughout your application, and our recruitment officers will be able to email you a copy of this.
Are you domiciliary care, will I be going between peoples houses?
No, Silva Care offer 3 main services. These are outreach, supported living and short breaks. Some of the people we support do have morning and evening home care included within their care packages – so occasionally you may be rota’d for this. Predominately you will be based at one of our sites and work there and within the community with the person you are supporting.
How long is your recruitment/clearance process?
We make the process as smooth and quick as possible, the quicker we can get your references returned the better. Applying for your DBS certificate and how long this takes is unfortunately out of our control. However, in the mean time we will set you up on our online training or invite you to face-to-face training sessions that are running, so as soon as your DBS is returned you will be ready to work on site.
When can I start?
All job offers are subject to full DBS checks and satisfactory referencing, whilst we are waiting on this information you will be set up on online training and invited to any face-to-face training. Once all of the documents and references have been received we can set you up with a start date ready for your induction on site.
What documents do I need to complete my DBS?
Following a successful interview, and you accepting a job offer we will invite you to our head office to complete you DBS application. When we invite you to this DBS meeting, we will discuss with you the documents that you will need to bring with you on the day to complete the application. If you have any concerns about anything our recruitment officers will be able to discuss with you any barriers you might have with certain documents. You will then be sent an email which will include all of the accepted documents for the DBS application.
Do I need experience and will I get training?
No you do not need any experience to become a support worker with us. We train all of our staff in each area and have online modules to keep you refreshed in between refresher training, all staff complete the care certificate work book and receive adequate induction and shadowing time. Please read our previous blog “Do I need previous experience to be a support worker?” – https://www.silvacare.org.uk/do-i-need-previous-experience-to-be-a-support-worker/
