Over 11 years experience

Our History & Heritage

Founded in July 2007 with one supported living house and one short breaks house, plus a small amount of community Outreach services. The ethos of the company was very much about providing personalised and high-quality support for people with learning disabilities in their local communities, and about providing access to a wide range of social, leisure, training and development opportunities.

We started with approximately 30 staff and have steadily grown over the past 17 years and now support over 229 people and have over 340 staff across our services.  Throughout the growth we have continued to maintain our ethos of person centred high quality community-based support.

2010

By 2010 our community Outreach services had expanded quite significantly, and several people we supported needed access to a building where they could meet with peers, have access to facilities such as a kitchen, accessible bathrooms and sensory equipment this resulted in us opening our first outreach base called South park in the south of Bristol

Our short breaks house in Frenchay also proved very popular and we found ourselves with a waiting list for the service provided so we added Station Rd, Filton providing two short break houses.

2011

Giving people the opportunity to use our short breaks and outreach services had developed and increased their independence skills so they were ready for a move away from home. As they were so happy with our services we were asked to support their move to their own accommodation. This led us to developing our supported living services and we opened New Rd

2013

Following the success of Our Community Outreach services and expansion in 2010 with the opening of South Park, we were asked to support individuals move to their own accommodation. This led us to developing our supported living services in addition to opening new Rd in 2011 we then opened the Bramleys in 2013

2014

Following the success in 2010 of Frenchay and Station Road providing a short breaks house we added The Cherries in Redland Penn drive, Frenchay to the portfolio. We also continued our development of our supported living by opening the Hazels, this complemented the opening of New Rd in 2011 and the Bramley’s in 2013

2015

As all our short breaks services were north or central Bristol we decided to open a south Bristol shorts breaks service, Churchways. When people come and stay with us there are lots of opportunities to socialize and go out to lots of different activities such as the cinema, bowling, the pub, and weekend trips.

2017

Stoke Lane was opened in 2017 to complement the other houses already opened Frenchay, Station Road, The Cherries in Redland, Penn drive, Frenchay, New Rd and the Bramley’s

2018

in 2018 the ethos of the company continues to be very much about providing personalised and high-quality support for people with learning disabilities in their local communities, and about providing access to a wide range of social, leisure, training and development opportunities. All the houses provide shared accommodation and support with no more than four people living at each house. In addition, we also provide 24hrs support for some people living in single person accommodation.

2020

We opened a new supported living house, Cross walk, providing a lovely 4-bedroom house in Whitchurch.

2021

A group of young people we were already supporting for short breaks wanted to move away from home and have their own house and we open Whit Lane, a four-bedroom House in South Bristol.

2023

We developed another supported living house in the Kingswood area of Bristol, supporting 4 people who wanted to live in the north of the city.

2024

We continue to strive for excellence across our community Outreach, Supported Living and Short Breaks services. We strongly believe in the importance of involving our service users and their families in the co-production of our services and learning from their experiences. We have regular Service user and parent carer forums to listen to and action suggestions and ideas.
